Title : Secured Energy-Efficient Clustering Mechanism (SEECM) Using Firefly Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks Authors : E.Velumani, Dr.T.Kannaian
Abstract :
The sensor nodes deployed in wireless sensor networks are extremely power constrained, so maximizing the lifetime of the entire networks is mainly considered in the design. An energy efficient clustering algorithm with optimum parameters is designed for reducing the energy consumption and prolonging the system lifetime. Here we approach an Energy Efficient Clustering Mechanism (SEECM) with Firefly algorithm and also present a Cluster key Management for secure transmission in WSN. A Firefly Algorithm (FA) is a recent nature inspired optimization algorithm that simulates the flash pattern and characteristics of fireflies. Clustering is a popular data analysis technique to identify homogeneous groups of objects based on the values of their attributes. Firefly algorithm is a swarm based algorithm that used for solving optimization problems. This paper presents a new approach using firefly algorithm to cluster data. This paper also shows the use of firefly algorithm to find the centroid of the user specified number of clusters. We use the firefly algorithm to find initial optimal cluster centroid and then optimized centroid to refined them and improve clustering accuracy. And we propose an efficient Cluster key management (CKM) scheme for secure communication in dynamic WSNs characterized by node mobility. The CKM supports efficient key updates when a node leaves or joins a cluster and ensures forward and backward key secrecy. The protocol also supports efficient key revocation for compromised nodes and minimizes the impact of a node compromise on the security of other communication links. A security analysis of our scheme shows that our protocol is effective in defending against various attacks. Simulation results validate that the proposed FA significantly outperforms the clustering mechanisms using random selection and by considering only link quality, security and residual energy in the packet delivery ratio, energy consumption, and delivery latency. |

Title : Carbon Trading: An Emerging Dimension of Business Ethics Authors : Dr.Makarand Upadhyaya
Abstract :
Emissions Trading /Carbon Trading is an administrative intervention for controlling pollution by providing economic rewards for controlling the Green House Gases. The business model is based on clean development mechanism (CDM)-initiated and designed as a part of the Kyoto protocol. Kyoto Protocol (February 2005) elaborates on the potential trade in carbon emission reductions and hence the Carbon Credits markets emerged. Companies are issued emission permits and are required to hold an equivalent number of allowances (credits). Credits represent the right to emit a specific amount. Companies that exceed their emissions must buy credits from those who pollute less. This transfer of allowances is referred to as trade. Carbon credits are vital ingredients of the national and international emissions trading schemes that have been implemented to alleviate the menace of global warming. This implies a capping on the annual emissions on an industrial scale and letting the market assign a monetary value to any shortfall through trading, thus providing a measure to reduce the green house effect emissions. Policies that provide a real or implicit price of carbon could create incentives for producers and consumers to significantly invest in low-GHG products, technologies and processes. Such policies could include economic instruments, government funding and regulation. This business is based on a tool called the clean development mechanism (CDM), initiated and designed as part of the Kyoto Protocol. The paper investigates the impact of Carbon Trading. The study strongly supports that emission(s) trading is an administrative intervention used to control pollution by providing economic rewards. There is a provision of financial incentives for achieving reductions in the emissions of pollutants. It is termed as cap and trade. |

Title : An Adjustable State Estimator for Discrete-Time Nonlinear Stochastic Systems Authors : Sie Long Kek, Kim Gaik Tay, Sy Yi Sim
Abstract :
In this paper, an adjustable state estimator is introduced for estimating the dynamics of a discrete-time nonlinear system that is disturbed by a sequence of random noises. In our approach, the Kalman filtering theory, which is employed to estimate the dynamics of the linear system, is completed with adding the adjusted parameters into the model used. In this way, the differences between the real plant and the model used can be measured iteratively. On the other hand, the output, which is measured from the real plant, is fed back into the model used in order to update the sequence of the optimal state estimate in each iteration step. When the convergence is achieved, it is found that the iterative solution approaches to the true optimal solution of the original estimation problem in spite of model-reality differences. In additional, the convergent property of the adjustable state estimator is also given. For illustration, three examples are studied and the results obtained show the efficiency of the approach proposed. |

Title : Hybrid Intelligent System via Fuzzy Regression Analysis, Bayesian Gaussian Reasoning Model in Healthcare Authors : Shailendra Singh Kathait, Dr. Aankita Kaur, Anubha Varshney
Abstract :
In this paper, we propose the architecture of Hybrid Intelligent System with different techniques of pattern recognition and machine learning. Fuzzy Regression and Bayesian Gaussian Neural Network approach are used to build the model. Fuzzy regression deals with the uncertain, vagueness of the system. Naïve Bayesian classifier helps in building strong independent relationships whereas Gaussian classifiers correlates high dimensional data with kernel function to yield better performance of the system. A hybridized combined approach of neural network is presented in healthcare. It is due to its flexibility of modeling, and robust nature, learning ability from complex functions and the application of different algorithm for reduction of errors for a better intelligent system. |

Title : A Multihop Routing With Energy Preservation for Network Stability Using Genetic Algorithm: A Research Authors : Gurpreet Singh Grewal, Prof. Mandeep Kaur
Abstract :
Wireless sensor network consist of various sensor nodes that are used for the communication. These nodes are battery constraints. Energy utilization of the sensor nodes is the major challenge in the wireless sensor network. The main aim of this work is to examine the energy efficiency and the energy efficient protocols. Traditionally Q-LEACH protocol was considered as the best protocol but it too had some limitation. So in this paper a new technique is proposed for the improving the life time of the network. In this the Q-LEACH protocol is combined with the Genetic algorithm. By using the genetic algorithm the optimize route is obtained. By using the proposed algorithm the life time of the network is increased as the less amount of energy is consumed by the nodes. A comparison is done between the traditional Q-LEACH protocol and the proposed protocol. From the results obtained it is concluded that this method is better and efficient than the traditional method. |

Title : Heat Transfer Analysis of Recuperative Air Preheater Authors : Sasanka Jonnalagadda, Dr. K. Srinivasa Reddy
Abstract :
The recuperative air preheater is a general term used to describe any device designed to heat air before another process with the primary objective of increasing the thermal efficiency of the process. The grate preheater consists of a chamber containing a chain-like high-temperature steel moving grate, attached to the cold end of the rotary kiln. Preheater can be widely applied in the new construction and transformation of medium and large cement plant. Its main applications are in cement industries for regeneration of heat which is passed from kiln. The working principle of preheater is an amount of heat passed from the kiln line to preheater, where in preheater heat shall be raised with the help of stages done in preheater and again the maximum heat shall be reverted to the kiln as it is a regenerative process. The main issues are to Increase of production capacity, Reduction of specific heat consumption. In this work the amount of heat which is passed to air as a waste heat, that waste heat shall be recovered with the help of waste heat recovery system and making the process with the regenerative form where there shall be no wastage in the heat.In industry there are 4 stage preheater as well 5 stages preheater with that the maximum heat which is passed from kiln shall be regenerated with the help of variant flows such as conduction, convection as well as radiation. The maximum amount of heat shall be recovered through precalciner. One way to enhance the thermal efficiency of waste heat recovery is to use recuperation to recover some of the heat energy from exhaust gases. The direction of flow shall be deposited to the kiln processing and again heating process shall be done this procedure is called reheating process. Coal contribute major share of fuel used in the cement industry. The amount of heat recovered is calculated by different parameters such as preheater calculations, kiln calculations using the principles of conduction, convection and radiation. The method of calculations for preheater as well as kiln is to be record with the means of values which shall be taken from digital display from control room and calculations done manually. Whereas for the conduction, convection, radiation the calculations are done through Heat transfer spread sheet calculations. The various parameters which shall be calculated from the above experiments are thermal resistance, heat transfer coefficient, waste heat recovery, false air calculations. The performance of air preheater in terms of the above said parameters are presented and discussed in this thesis. |

Title : On the liquidity effect in Algeria and Morocco: An Empirical Investigation Authors : Abdelhak BENAMAR , Rachida OUBEKHTI, Mohamed BENBOUZIANE
Abstract :
The objective of this paper is to test for the liquidity effect in Algeria and Morocco using multivariate threshold autoregressive model (MVTAR) as proposed by Tsay (1998). Our empirical results have several important implications. First, results do not support threshold behaviour in the case of Algeria. Moreover, when using M1 as a proxy of monetary policy, the liquidity effect hypothesis is rejected in this country. When using bank deposit assets (BDA), results show that there is a negative relationship between monetary shocks and interest rate, and accordingly accepting the liquidity effect. Secondly, in the case of Morocco, however, results show an asymmetric response of interest rate to positive and negative shock of monetary policy. Moreover, these results strongly support a threshold behavior when BDA is employed, while weakly supporting the same behavior using M1. Furthermore, and using the proxy of bank deposit assets, the liquidity effect is accepted in the low inflation regime, whereas it is rejected in the high inflation regime. Hence, the threshold behavior offers an interesting alternative for explaining the relationship between interest rates and monetary policy shocks. The results presented herein may give more insights on the transmission mechanism of monetary policy in different inflationary environments. Accordingly, a good inflation targeting policy would yield better results in this context. Indeed, the liquidity effect breaks down for the high inflation regime, as inflationary expectations are immediately responsive to money growth. In a low-inflation regime, however, money is not considered to be neutral, as it could affect output through the liquidity effect |
